It's essential that as an empowered person in business you can understand your analytics and more importantly know what to do with the info.
Don't fear! I know how little time you have that's why I've created a tool for you to analyse your data and my quick start guide below to help you interpret the results!
If you haven't already then use this tool to interpret individual post results.
Then use the guide below to find out more

If this number increases it means people are enjoying both your picture/video and the caption. It could be either of these, but in some way people liked the whole post.
If you want to increase the number of likes you receive, much of this can be down to the algorithm and your reach, but one thing you can immediately try it to make sure your pictures are super interesting to your audience. Then give them a caption that gives them some value. If you only talk about yourself people aren't really going to be interested unless it something particularly poignant or you're a celebrity. You need to be giving them some value.
If you have a good number of comments it usually means your caption was good. It inspired them to continue the conversation with you. The only time this isn't the case is if you put words in the picture or video you post. They may then be responding to that. For example a quote.
If you're not getting many comments try to think about having a conversation with your audience. This can open up a two way street. Try also using a question in your comment for your audience to answer.
If you have more saves than normal it means that people found your post so valuable in some way that they want to keep it to look at another time. Saving rather than sharing means it was really inspiring, motivating or important to just them in some way as they want to keep it for themselves. They don't feel the need to tell others about it. This isn't a bad thing, they have still found great value in it.
You will find people save your posts when you give them something inspirational and personal to them. It could be anything from interior design ideas to quotes that make them adjust their mindset. What ever inspires or motivates people in your niche - try to put that out there and see if saves go up. Remember the message can be in the picture, or caption or both.
Like the number of saves, this metric means they have found something really valuable about your post and this time they want to tell someone else about it. Maybe a friend or maybe they have shared it with a group of people.
This is similar to saves in terms of the content, but this time they want to share it with others for some reason. It's content that they want to share as it's relevant to someone else or something in their relationship with another.
I love this particular metric. As a business we know how hard it is to get people to leave Instagram. So if you have a post that is doing really well getting people to take actions, this is really good and you're going to want to duplicate what ever it is that you did.
In taking advantage of increased actions we can do things like build our email list or sell products.
Reach tells us overall how many people are getting eyes on your post. If you are changing things around to see what is making a difference this is a really good metric to track. If this increases when you do something different - keep doing it!
It's a good idea to test aspects of your Instagram, for example your hashtags. This is a good metric to watch when you change things and test.
Impressions from home tells me that your audience is getting eyes on what you do. If this is going up it means something you are doing is tipping the balance in your favour with the algorithm and Instagram is showing your post to your followers. Yeah thanks Instagram!! Gone are the days of your post being shown to 100% of your audience!! But this means you are being placed into your followers feed and being seen.
This is a direct indicator of whether or not your hashtags are working for you. If this is going up then your hashtags are performing well. If it's dropping it's time to find new hashtags!
This means people are looking at your overall profile and they decided to click on this particular post. This usually means something about the picture enticed them to explore further. If they're on your profile it means they' like your business as a whole.
This tells me the picture you used for this post was a good one.
